Default Parameters for LinuxPrintJobStTest

This test continuously monitors all the printers i.e., physical or network printers configured in the target system and for each printer, reports the number of printing jobs that are currently processed and the number of jobs that are waiting in the print queue. Using this test, administrators can identify the printer that has maximum number of jobs in waiting state in the print queue. This will help administrators troubleshoot issues with the printers resolve any impending issues at the earliest.

This page depicts the default parameters that need to be configured for the LinuxPrintJobStTest.

  • The TEST PERIOD list box helps the user to decide how often this test needs to be executed.

  • In the HOST text box, the host name of the server for which the test is to be configured has to be specified.

  • By default, this test auto-discovers the printers and reports the jobs processed by each printer. In some environments, administrators may want to exclude the jobs processed by certain printers from the scope of monitoring. For this purpose, administrators can specify a comma-separated list of printers in the EXCLUDE PRINTERS text box. The printers specified in this text box will not auto-discovered and hence will not be listed as descriptors of this test. By default, this parameter is set to none.

  • Once the necessary values have been provided, clicking on the UPDATE button will register the changes made.

When changing default configurations of tests, the values with “$” indicate variables that will be replaced by the eG system according to the specific server being managed - for instance, $hostName is the host/nickname of the target host, $port is the port number of the server being monitored. E.g., for a server xyz:80, $hostName will be changed automatically by the eG manager to “xyz*” and $port will be changed to “80” when configuring a test.
