Measures reported by SynNasSystemTest

The system temperature status of the Synology NAS is indicated by green or orange lights:

  • Green: Indicates that the system temperature is normal.

  • Orange: Indicates that the system temperature is too high. If the temperature remains high, it might shut down due to overheating.

Note:

The system temperature status information will not be displayed on certain fan-less models.

The availability and proper functioning of power supplies is critical to the uninterrupted operations of a storage device. Irrecoverable errors, power failures, or erratic voltage fluctuations experienced by the power supplies can halt operations of the storage device for hours.

The sudden failure of the system, temperature and the power supply units of a storage device can cause the device to crash, leading to critical loss of data. To avoid this, you need to keep an eye on the state of the system and each power supply unit of the storage system. This can be achieved using the Synology System Health test.

This test reports the overall health status, power supply status and the temperature of the storage device.

Outputs of the test : One set of results for the Synology storage system being monitored.

The measures made by this test are as follows:

Measurement Description Measurement Unit Interpretation
Health_status Indicates the health status of the system.   The values that this measure can report and their corresponding numeric values are tabulated below:

Measure Value Numeric Value
Normal 1
Failed 2

Note:

By default, this measure reports the above-mentioned Measure Values listed in the table to indicate the health status of the system. The graph of this measure however is represented using the numeric equivalents only.
Temperature Indicates the current temperature of the system. Celsius The values of these measures should be within a permissible range. A significant rise/drop in the values of these measures can cause damage to the core components of the system.
Power_status Indicates the power status of the system.   The values that this measure can report and their corresponding numeric values are tabulated below:

Measure Value Numeric Value
Normal 1
Failed 2

Note:

By default, this measure reports the above-mentioned Measure Values listed in the table above to indicate the power status of the system. The graph of this measure however is represented using the numeric equivalents only.
